From Dream to Legacy: Our Journey
Coach Lue, our founder, immigrated to the USA from Ivory Coast at the age of 12, driven by a dream to become a professional soccer player. Though injuries altered his path, his passion for the game never waned. After a decade of coaching in New York City—mentoring players who’ve reached collegiate and high school teams—Coach Lue channeled his experiences into building Fundamental Futbòl Academy (FFA NYC).
At FFA NYC, we address a crucial gap in youth soccer: the lack of focus on fundamentals and player development. Unlike programs that prioritize winning, we’re committed to nurturing beginners in a fun, positive, and competitive environment. For over 10 years, our dedicated staff has empowered young athletes with the skills, confidence, and love for the game they need to excel.
Coaching with Purpose
At Fundamental Futbòl Academy, our coaching is rooted in the basics—passing, dribbling, shooting, and game intelligence. Using step-by-step instructional methods, we break down drills to ensure players understand both the how and why. Patience and passion guide our staff, who are chosen for their love of the game and dedication to nurturing young talent.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, we use soccer to inspire and empower youth, promoting respect, hard work, and positive attitudes over winning. By fostering a supportive and competitive environment, we help players unlock their full potential on and off the field, building confidence, creativity, and life skills for a brighter future.
Empowering Young Players
At Fundamental Futbòl Academy, we offer programs designed to help kids grow and succeed at every stage of their soccer journey. Our Travel Teams (ages 8–12) provide competitive opportunities for serious players, while our Player Development program (ages 4–8) introduces the fundamentals of soccer in a fun and supportive environment.
For more personalized attention, we offer Private Training to focus on specific skills. We’re also launching a 1:1 Coach Training program to guide aspiring coaches and an Apprenticeship Program that gives teens hands-on coaching experience while earning college credit. With seasonal Summer and Holiday Camps, we provide a well-rounded approach to helping kids thrive both on and off the field.

Through our player development programs and support for youth in Ivory Coast, we empower the next generation by providing education, leadership, and opportunities through soccer. Our initiatives are also closely tied to Coach Lue’s foundation, The Dream Lives On Foundation, which works to uplift youth through education and personal growth.
